Comprehensive, compassionate neurological care
Our Department of Neurology is dedicated to providing extraordinary care for a wide range of neurological issues. Our continuous research and participation in professional teaching activities is helping to develop tomorrow’s renowned neurologists—today.

At Staten Island University Hospital, our neurology experts understand that receiving a diagnosis for a neurological condition can be scary and confusing. We’re here to provide individualized, evidence-based care—from common neurological conditions to the most rare and complicated diseases—that is all based on your needs. We're also involved in ongoing research and participate in professional teaching activities, helping to develop the neurologists of tomorrow.

The department is composed of seven adult and pediatric neurologists with special expertise in:

  • Alzheimer's disease and other memory disorders
  • Autoimmune brain disorders, such as autoimmune encephalitis
  • Brain aneurysms (ruptured and non-ruptured aneurysms and related conditions)
  • Brain tumors
  • Epilepsy and seizure disorders
    • We’re a National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC)-accredited level 3 epilepsy center that includes a full range of epilepsy care for children and adults.
  • Headache
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Neuromuscular disorders, from Bell’s palsy to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease) to myasthenia gravis
  • Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders
  • Stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA)
    • We’re a Department of Health-designated Primary Stroke Center with pending Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC) designation.
