Putting our hearts into caring for hers
At Staten Island University Hospital, we provide pediatric cardiology diagnosis, treatment and follow-up—all from one convenient, family-friendly location. We work closely with various pediatric departments and specialists to offer the best care possible.

Heart disease doesn’t just happen to adults. In fact, eight out of every 1,000 children are born with a heart condition, and others develop or acquire heart disease later in life. Fortunately, continuously improving technology and treatments are leading to better, earlier diagnoses that save lives.

At Staten Island University Hospital Pediatric Cardiology Program, we provide pediatric cardiology diagnosis, treatment and follow-up from one convenient, family-friendly location. We work closely with the pediatric emergency room, ICU and NICU, as well as offer outpatient pediatric cardiology services. As part of our multidisciplinary approach to care, we also partner with other specialists, such as social workers and nutritionists, to ensure the best possible outcome.

A team with heart

Our pediatric cardiologists, nurses and technicians are not only experienced with every type of heart condition. We also offer personalized, compassionate care, taking the time to explain procedures, diagnoses and what to expect. We are available for our patients and their families 24 hours a day.

Partnering with Cohen Children’s Medical Center

For children requiring open-heart surgery to correct a congenital defect, we work in partnership with the renowned Cohen Children’s Medical Center in New Hyde Park. Children undergoing open heart surgery receive care locally and travel by special pediatric transport to Cohen Children’s Medical Center, where surgeons, who are experts in the field of pediatric open-heart surgery, perform the operation. After a brief recovery in Cohen Children’s Medical Center pediatric intensive care unit, children are returned home to our pediatric intensive care unit, where our highly trained staff carefully monitors the remainder of recovery.
