Our rehabilitation medicine specialists are here for patients with a wide range of disorders, including brain injuries, burns, fractures, trauma injuries, stroke, chronic pain conditions and more. Our goal is to restore function so you can get back to doing what you love.


The physicians, occupational and physical therapists, speech language pathologists, recreation therapists, rehabilitation nurses, and support staff at the Staten Island University Hospital's Rehabilitation Medicine Department provide the highest quality patient care. Our department combines services with:

  • The Stroke Center
  • Department of Orthopedics
  • The Regional Burn Center
  • The Heart Institute

Our department's well-known programs include:

  • A comprehensive 49-bed inpatient rehab unit for adults
  • Inpatient brain injury rehab for adults
  • Outpatient adult rehab (two locations)
  • Outpatient pediatric rehab and early intervention through the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene

CARF accreditation signals a service provider’s commitment to continually improving services, encouraging feedback and serving the community. Our South Site Hospital in Prince's Bay is CARF-accredited for Comprehensive Inpatient Medical Rehabilitation.
